4 ESSENTIAL APPS THAT WILL MAKE YOU MONEY JUST FOR SHOPPING
Do you ever go grocery shopping or do some online shopping? We’re pretty sure 95% of you do. Today, we’ll be introducing you four apps that everyone should have before shopping for anything in the United States.
A lot of these apps will give you money (as in send it to your Venmo or Paypal account) for buying items that you probably needed anyway at your favorite grocery store or pharmacy.
Some of these apps may only work in the U.S., but they may very well work in Canada as well.

These are definitely some money saving apps that you want to have on your smartphone the moment you are in the U.S.
American Lifestyle is not sponsored or endorsed by any of the apps we’re about to show you today, so they’re our genuine recommendations!
1. Ibotta
Ibotta is by far our most favorite app. In the app, you will see promoted products, and you will earn cashback for purchasing them and uploading a receipt. If you make your purchase at select retailers like Walmart, you only need to scan the QR code on your receipt, and the app will automatically detect products that you have saved and credit your account.
What’s awesome about this app is that a lot of the products that you see are the items you would usually buy at a grocery store. You can often get credit for purchasing several of the same items, and even if the store is having a sale of their own, you still qualify for the cashback!
Most of the times, they will even have really basic products like “any grocery item,” “any gallon of milk,” or “bananas” where there’s no reason to say no to earning an extra quarter or so for basically doing nothing.
TIP: If you’re making purchases at stores with receipts that don’t have QR codes, you will need to take a photo of the receipt in the app. Save the boxes or cases that show the product bar-code because you may need to scan it in the app to prove your purchase in addition to the receipt photo.
If you’re signing up for the first time, use our promotion code:
or sign up directly from the following link to receive whatever benefits they may be offering for signing up through a friend referral:
As an added benefit, notice that under the “Find Offers” section, you will notice a bunch of other offers beyond grocery shopping such as staying at certain hotels or booking your travel through some of the most famous vacation websites.
2. Checkout 51
“Checkout 51” works similarly to Ibotta in which you’ll upload a receipt for qualifying purchases. Their products are not as generally bought items like we see on Ibotta, but we still managed to find cashback offers today for buying a few boxes of Kleenex or Chobani yogurts.
You might not turn into a millionaire overnight, but those $2 offers add up pretty quickly to add an extra $20 in your PayPal account.
Yes, we have a referral code for “Checkout 51” as well so that you can receive whatever benefits they are offering for signing up through a friend. Sign up from this link here:

Like all other apps we’re introducing on this page, there are NO sign-up fees, annual fees, or any other fees you can think of to use “Checkout 51.”
3. Paribus
Paribus works a bit differently from the other two apps we’ve introduced so far. This app keeps track of the prices on items that you’ve purchased online. If there’s a price drop in an item you have purchased online, Paribus will request a refund on your behalf and the retailer will credit that amount back on your credit card or whatever method you used to make the purchase.
What we love about this app is that you pretty much have to do nothing after signing up. You’ll be getting credited whenever the retailers have a sale or decrease the price on the things you’ve already bought. Paribus keeps track of your online purchases from major retailers such as Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, Macy’s, and Bed Bath & Beyond just to name a few, so this is another app on our must-have list.
You knew it! We have a referral code for Paribus as well. Unlike the other apps, neither one of us will receive a benefit for signing up through a friend referral for Paribus, but that could change any time, so here’s the referral code!
Needless to say, you will be credited only when the price drops, and you won’t be billed when there’s a price increase ๐
TIP: As you can only log in with the e-mail address you have on file, make sure to sign up with one that you will use to make your online purchases with. Sometimes, the app will automatically log you out, so sign in once in a while to view the refunds you’ve received.
4. Drop
Drop is an app that keeps track of your purchases by linking a credit card. You will need to link the card you use to make purchases by signing into your online banking account, so this app may not work for you if you bank with a minor institution or have an international credit card. Associate your account with all the credit and debit cards you have so that it wouldn’t matter which card you use!
You will rack up points by paying for Uber and Lyft that we’ve introduced in our article, “Living Without a Car in the United States” which you can read by clicking here.
Drop also lets you earn points by shopping at Walmart, Apple, Starbucks, Dunkin’ Donuts, Gap, Walgreens, Groupon, Sephora, and quite a few other major chains whether you make those purchases online or in-store.
This app will not pay you cash, but will give you gift cards to retailers of your choice once you collect sufficient points to exchange. Some gift cards you can choose are from Starbucks, iTunes, Amazon, UberEats, Whole Foods, and Shake Shack which do come in pretty handy. We usually exchange our points for free Starbucks gift cards ๐
Like all other apps on our list, we do have a referral code so that you can get your bonus upon signing up! You can copy and paste the following code:
or to make your life easier, simply click on the link below:
TIP: You will earn points by simply using your credit or debit card, but Drop often offers bonuses in the “My Offers” section. You can also earn quite a few points by playing a simple free game after every few qualifying purchases.
To Sum it Up
We’re sure no one would mind getting extra cash or gift cards for doing pretty much nothing. We’ve been using all of the apps mentioned here for a couple years, and we found them all to be legitimate ones that actually work! In case you’re curious, we haven’t run into any problems like card frauds or information breach as a result of using any of these apps, so we’d say they have all been safe to use so far.
If you’re planning to visit or live in the United States, you would definitely want to read our “You’re Going Nowhere Without a Credit Card” to understand the importance of always carrying around a few credit cards with you.
